Abstract:
The results of the study of the systematic and quantitative composition of mollusc shells in three samples taken in shore deposits of the Azov Sea are presented. The common features of all samples is the poverty of the systematic composition of mollusc assemblages, especially gastropods. The poverty of the species diversity of molluscs is compensated by the high quantitative content of dominant bivalves. The composition of mollusc assemblages in shore deposits probably depends on the indentation of the shoreline of the basin. The associations of molluscs in shore deposits formed in closed areas of the coast more accurately reflect the diversity and numerical composition of molluscs in biocenoses.
