Abstract:
The article provides a brief history of the formation of the Crimean nursery growing. The key milestones in its development are marked. Some methods of production of planting material are highlighted. The results of long-term research on the improvement and intensification of technologies of growing fruit crop seedlings in accordance with the requirements of State Standard are presented. The main economic and biological features of promising Crimean breeding of apple and pear rootstocks with moderate growth power, adapted to the soil and climatic conditions of the peninsula and compatible with most of the released cultivars, have been analyzed and marked. The most effective rootstocks: for apple - K 104, K 109; for pear - quince KA 53, KA 86, KA 92, are included to the State Register of Selection Achievements of the Russian Federation and recommended for manufacturing application. Improved technologies for the production of cropped seedlings are also offered to nurseries of all forms of ownership. The cultivars having high shooting ability were allocated, and the optimal timing of apple plants pinching was determined (the second third of June).
